Where to go on holiday? I saw 45 countries. I'll give you a hint

Out of the 45 countries I have visited, there are five that really amazed me and make me want to go back again and again.
Here are the ones that I think every traveler should add to their bucket list.

There is something for everyone in Vietnam
While many visitors to Southeast Asia choose places like Thailand or Indonesia, I highly recommend taking a look at Vietnam.
In my opinion, this country offers something for everyone. If you're looking for breathtaking nature, I recommend checking out the limestone cliffs of Hạ Long Bay or the rice fields of Sapa.

Tourists can also relax on the beaches in Hoi An and visit the old town there to take cooking classes and buy tailored clothes. They can also enjoy the hustle and bustle – and great coffee culture – of Hanoi and Saigon.
From city attractions to nature adventures, I found plenty to do in Vietnam – and I find it less crowded and more affordable than other places I have visited.
The landscapes of New Zealand took my breath away
Travel to New Zealand for natural landscapes that will literally leave you speechless. When I went there with my husband, we rented a car to explore the country at our own pace.
From geothermal attractions like the hot springs and mud pools of the North Island to the fjords, mountains and glaciers of the South Island, it's hard to find a sight in New Zealand that isn't stunning.
I also appreciate that locals expect visitors to protect the country's natural environment, in line with indigenous Maori beliefs.
I was completely enchanted by Slovenia
There is also plenty to see and do. To start with, the picture-perfect Lake Bled with an idyllic church on an island in the middle of the water. There is also Lake Bohinj nearby, which I found even more beautiful.

The capital, Ljubljana, is equally charming, with a castle on a hill, a river winding through the city, pedestrian markets, and a dragon as an urban symbol.
Elsewhere in Slovenia you can find everything from gorges and caves to waterfalls, vineyards and beaches.

My country, Canada, gives visitors a lot of choice
As a Canadian, I'm a little biased, but I truly believe my country should be on everyone's travel list – there's a little bit of everything here.
If you are looking for a large city with a wide range of international cuisines and nightlife, choose Toronto. However, if you prefer a city with a European atmosphere and distinct culture, I suggest Montreal.

And if you love nature, I recommend taking a road trip around Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia to see the fall foliage, or hiking in the mountains in Banff and Jasper.
And if you want to experience the sea, the mountains and the city – sometimes all in one day – there is no better place than my hometown of Vancouver.
Sweden is perfect to escape the hot summer
As Europe experiences increasingly hotter summer months – summer 2024 was the warmest on record – I like to spend my holidays in the north, in Sweden, on the so-called coolcation (from a combination of the words cool and vacation).
Stockholm is cool – literally and figuratively. Here you can take a walk through the Royal Palace, visit museums devoted to Viking ships, photography or Abba, and also see the “longest art gallery in the world”, i.e. the city's metro system.

You can also fly north to Swedish Lapland to commune with nature, meet the indigenous Sami and see reindeer (there are more of them than people).
No matter where you are in Sweden – I think it's always worth making time for “fika” (fika – a break for coffee and something sweet).
