Deputies from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation will introduce a bill to the State Duma, according to which it is proposed to reduce the working hours of Russians to 6 hours a day.

According to the authors of the initiative, the goal of the project is to establish “normal working hours of no more than 30 hours per week.”

In addition, the document also provides for a proportional reduction in working hours for certain categories of workers. Thus, it is proposed to assign a working time of no more than 24 hours per week to citizens under the age of 16, from 16 to 18 years, to disabled people of groups I and II, women working in rural areas, teaching staff, as well as workers whose working conditions in the workplace are classified as harmful or dangerous.

These measures, the deputies emphasize, will increase labor productivity, ensure an increase in living standards, and also reduce the level of stress and burnout among employees. Besides this, notes RIA Novosti, this initiative will reduce the incidence rate and reduce the number of sick days, and will also allow employees to pay attention to additional professional education, will lead to an increase in income and will enable citizens to spend free time with their families.

Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Russia Anton Kotyakov previously urged not to wait for the transition to a four-day working week in the country amid a shortage of personnel.
