1 tbsp. l. per 1 liter of water, and delicious beets are prepared in 7 minutes – tasty, bright, and most importantly, healthy and soft

Beets are tasty and healthy, but many people don’t like to cook them – it’s long and inconvenient. Depending on the variety, size and density of the root vegetable, cooking can take from 20 minutes to several hours. In fact, everything can be done faster. Here are two easy ways that save time and help maintain vibrant color.

Method 1: On the stove – faster than it seems

  • Wash the beets well, but do not peel or trim the tail.
  • Place in a saucepan and fill with cold water to cover by 2-3 cm.
  • Don't add salt.
  • To preserve color, you can add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar per liter of water.
  • After boiling, cook for about 30–40 minutes.
  • Drain the boiling water and immediately fill it with cold water for 10–15 minutes. This way the beets reach softness faster and are then easier to peel.

Method 2: Microwave – only 7-10 minutes

If you have very little time:

  • Wash the beets and place in a baking bag or ovenproof dish with a lid.
  • If you use a bag, make several punctures.
  • Cook on high for 7-10 minutes.
  • Leave inside for another 10 minutes.
  • Then transfer to cold water. Check readiness with a knife – it should go in easily.

Small beets cook faster, while large ones can be cut in half. The main thing is not to overcook or peel in advance, then the vegetable will remain juicy and bright.
