Students and film industry professionals are invited to free master classes and lectures at the SiberiaDOC festival

From December 1 to 4, a series of professional events will be held in Krasnoyarsk as part of the III International Documentary Film Festival SiberiaDOC.

In addition to a discussion panel about distribution, the program includes practical master classes from leading sound engineers, directors and producers, an expert lecture on distribution, as well as a creative meeting with the chairman of the festival jury. The country's leading producers, directors and distributors will share practical tools for promoting non-fiction films with local filmmakers and students.

“Documentary cinema is experiencing a revival today,” says festival director Nikolai Bem. — The viewer is looking for true stories and real heroes in cinema. Our industrial program helps authors not only create high-quality films, but also find their audience by understanding modern distribution and promotion mechanisms.”

December 2 at 11:00 in Krasnoyarsk, leading film industry experts will discuss the future of documentary films at the discussion panel “Distribution of Documentary Films. How to teach a viewer to watch a doc?” The event will take place at the Siberian Federal University and will bring together professionals from different cities of Russia and Kazakhstan for a dialogue on strategies for attracting new audiences to non-fiction films.

Experts will present working promotion tools, including cases of using online platforms, festivals and educational projects to form a spectator culture.

The panel will be moderated by Nikolay Bem, head of the SiberiaDOC International Film Festival, director of EniseyFilm LLC, member of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, director and producer with many years of experience in the industry. Key figures in Russian documentary cinema have been invited to the discussion.

The Krasnoyarsk region will be represented by Vasily Nelyubin, director of the Scientific and Educational Center “Institute of Film Industry of SFU”, candidate of sociological sciences, honored worker of culture of the Russian Federation, and Larisa Antropova, director of the MAU “Dom Kino” and the children’s cinema “Dream”, member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia. International experience will be brought by Azat Khakimov (Kazakhstan) – director, producer, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the field of directing and head of the creative association “KHAKIMOV OFFICE”.

On the same day December 2, at 16:00 at the House of Cinema, Konstantin Nafikov will give a lecture “Distribution of documentary films in Russia. Review of online platforms”, where he will share his unique experience of producing more than 30 film festivals and expertise in the field of digital distribution.

The industrial program also includes master classes from famous filmmakers.

December 3 Olga Averkieva will help aspiring filmmakers figure out where to start their first documentary project.

December 4 Azat Khakimov will conduct a master class on the use of documentary techniques in feature films. Practical classes will allow you to dive deeper into certain aspects of film production: from working with sound to directing techniques and launching your first project.
