Against the background of exposing the corruption scheme on the procurement of drones and REB Zelensky, announced the changes, in particular, in the units of the Logistics of the National Guard. Context
On July 22, the Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 12414, which provides for the expansion of the powers of the Prosecutor General, including in relation to criminal proceedings engaged in NABU and SAP. The law on the same day signed Zelensky, the next day – the document entered into force.
Anti -corruption bodies warned that the law gives the Prosecutor General of Ukraine access to all NABU cases, he will have the right to give instructions to detectives, will be able to close the investigation at the request of the protection party, etc. The CAP and NABU said that at the last moment the amendments, “actually destroying the independence” of the SAP and NABU, were made to the text of the bill.
After a wide resonance, mass protests against the law and the calls of the European Union, US senators and a number of international organizations to cancel these changes, the president introduced a corresponding bill to the Rada.
