US President Donald Trump's calls for the death penalty against Democratic politicians are absolutely disgusting, said the Democratic Party on Platform X. Trump called for the arrest and suggested the death penalty for congressmen who appeal to the army to disobey illegal orders.

“Trump just called for the killing of Democratic officials. Absolutely disgusting,” we read on the party's official account on X. The head of the party's national structures, Ken Martin, reacted in a similar way. The politician expressed the view that “in view of all the acts of political violence that have occurred this year, this is heinous.”
Trump was “indulging” on social media
This was a reaction to the president's series of posts on social media on Thursday, in which he called for the arrest of opposition members of Congress who appealed to the military to disobey illegal orders. Trump suggested they deserve the death penalty. He also retweeted his supporter's post calling for politicians to be hanged.
“This is called SEDITIVE ACTIVITY AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each of these traitors to our country should be arrested and brought to justice. Their words cannot be allowed to go unanswered – otherwise we will no longer have a country!!! An example must be set,” he wrote in one of the messages. In another he added: “SEDITIVE BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH.”
“You may refuse to obey illegal orders”
“Our rights are clear. You can refuse to obey illegal orders,” Senator Mark Kelly, a former fighter pilot and astronaut, said in the video. “You must refuse to obey illegal orders,” added Rep. Chris DeLuzio, a Navy veteran.
Although the politicians did not mention specific examples of orders in the film, congressman and former SEAL Jason Crow pointed to President Trump's statements in an interview with Fox News that suggested illegal actions against citizens. He mentioned, among others: Trump's words quoted by former Pentagon chief Mark Esper, who, during the protests near the White House, allegedly asked him why the army doesn't shoot at the demonstrators and can't they just shoot them in the legs?. Other examples he mentioned included Trump's suggestions to send troops to polling stations and talk of war in American cities where the president sent troops.
In turn, Democratic senator and former CIA officer Elissa Slotkin said in an interview for the New York Times that she had received signals from soldiers concerned about the legality of the ongoing campaign of assassinations of people suspected of smuggling drugs by sea.
