Donald Trump is changing strategy and asking Republicans to vote to release the Epstein dossier

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he supports the vote in the US House of Representatives to publish the file on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a change from his previous position, reports AFP.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that “House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein dossier because we have nothing to hide and it's time to get over this Democratic charade”. The Legislature is set to consider a bill this week that would require the attorney general to make the entire file public.

According to the US President, “the attorney general has already released tens of thousands of pages about Epstein and is investigating several Democratic officials,” mentioning names like Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman and Larry Summers.

Donald Trump is accused of having previously tried to block the vote in the House of Representatives in order to prevent the emergence of possible evidence that would implicate him in this case, accusations that he rejects.

His position has generated tension among Republicans, a party usually united around the leader. The president recently distanced himself from some of the prominent voices of the MAGA movement, including Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, whom he withdrew his endorsement for in the 2026 election.

“Some members of the Republican Party are being used and we can't allow that,” Trump said, adding that “the House Oversight Committee can have everything they can by law, I don't care“.
