Rospotrebnadzor specialists talk about the unique substance betaine, which is called a “vacuum cleaner for the liver.” The department's press service shares useful information.
Betaine found in beets and gives them their characteristic color. At the same time, it has powerful cleansing properties.
The substance improves the production and flow of bile, prevents its stagnation and promotes the removal of toxins from the body. Besides, betaine reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and some types of cancer, including breast and colorectal cancer.
It also helps absorb calcium, iron, proteins and vitamin B12, and in cosmetic products it effectively moisturizes the skin and protects cells from dehydration.
The largest amount of betaine is found in beets (128 mg per 100 g) and spinach (102 mg per 100 g). It is also present in curry powder and other products. The dosage of the substance depends on the age and physical condition of the person.
