The special US emissary for peace in Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, criticized Russia's “scandalous” attacks on Kiev, in a first reaction of the United States after the bombing last night, according to The Guardian.

Trump's envoy has warned that they “endanger the peace that the US president follows.”

Kellogg stressed that the hit targets “were not soldiers or weapons, but residential areas of Kiev, civil trains, EU delegation offices and British mission, as well as innocent civilians.”

So far, Donald Trump has had no public reaction.

Loud attack on Kiev

At least 18 people, including four children, were killed in Kiev after Russia launched a large air attack on Ukrainian cities on August 27 to August 28, targeting regions away from the front line. The attack also hit the buildings that house the EU delegation in Ukraine and British Council.

The city was attacked from several directions with shahed drones, carpcan drones, cruise missiles and Kinjal missiles, said the head of the Kiev military administration, Timur Tkacenko.

The first explosions were heard in Kiev on Wednesday around 9:30 pm, when Mayor Vitali Kliciko announced that anti-aircraft defense units are acting over the city. Tkacenko said that the defenses were activated again around the middle of the night, when another group of drones approached the capital.

The air forces of Ukraine reported that dozens of drones were flying in the swarms above the central and southern regions of the country, including in the Jitomîr, Odessa and Mîkolaiv regions. Air alarms were also issued for the western Ukraine regions, such as Ternopil, Liov and Ivano-Frankivsk.

Subsequently, the air forces announced that Russia has launched ballistic missiles to the center of Ukraine.

Around 3 o'clock in the morning, other strong explosions were heard in Kiev, according to Journalists from Kyiv Independent on the spot. Tkacenko confirmed that Russia has attacked the city with ballistic missiles.

“This night, Kiev is under a massive attack by the Russian terrorist state,” Tkacenko said.

While Kiev was still suffering from the attack on residential neighborhoods, Russia has launched a new wave of cruise missiles on the capital and other Ukrainian regions around 5:30 in the morning. New explosions rocked the city, while rescue teams were still looking for victims under the ruins of buildings hit by the ballistic missiles just hours before.
