Partial local elections will be held not only in Bucharest on December 7, but also in 11 other localities in the country, where the position of mayor or president of the County Council (CJ) has remained vacant, either because the mayor resigned, lost his mandate or died.
On December 7, not only the citizens of Bucharest will go to the polls, but also the residents of 10 communes and Buzau County, where the position of president of the County Council remained vacant after Lucian Romașcanu was appointed a member of the European Court of Auditors.
At the end of July, PSD Buzău president, deputy Romeo Lungu, told Agerpres that there are discussions for the former PSD leader, Marcel Ciolacu, to run for the County Council.
The leaders of the coalition decided that the local partial elections will be organized on December 7, and the Government Decision that will formalize the decision is to be adopted in the Executive meeting on Thursday.

The other localities in which partial local elections for the position of mayor will be organized are:
- Remetea commune from Bihor county. The former mayor, Adrian Ștefănică, lost his mandate because in June 2025 he was sentenced to 2 years and 4 months in prison with execution for participating in an illegal hunting party in 2021 in which a forester was accidentally killed, according to eBihoreanul.
- Marga commune from Caraș-Severin, where the mayor, Luca Mălăiescu, became a senator after the December 2024 parliamentary elections.
- Dobromir communes and Light from Constanța county, where the mayors died
- the town of Găesti from Dâmbovița. Here, the mayor Grigore Gheorghe lost his position because the National Integrity Agency declared him incompatible with the position after, during the period 2012-2015, he was simultaneously the vice-mayor and a member of a board of directors, writes Gazeta Dâmboviței.
- Valea Ciorii commune from Ialomita because the mayor died
- Vânători commune from Iasi county, where the mayor died

- COMMON Charter from Sibiu, because the mayor lost his mandate after ANI declared him incompatible “exercised simultaneously with the position of mayor and the capacity of a natural person merchant”, according to the publication Știri de Sibiu.
