Donald Trump: it's time for Denmark to return the favor
“For many years we have subsidized Denmark and all European Union countries, as well as other countries, without charging them customs duties or any other form of remuneration. Now, after centuries, it's time for Denmark to return the favor – world peace is at stake!” wrote the US president on the Truth Social platform at the beginning of the statement. It is much longer.

“China and Russia want Greenland and Denmark is unable to do anything about it. They currently have two teams of dogs for protection, one of which was added recently. Only the United States of America, under the leadership of PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, can play this game – and they are doing so very successfully!” No one will touch this sacred piece of land, especially since the national security of the United States and the security of the entire world are at risk“- we read.
Donald Trump in the post indicated that Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Finland went to Greenland for “unknown purposes.” “This is an extremely dangerous situation for the security, stability and survival of our planet. “These countries, by playing this very dangerous game, have introduced a level of risk that is neither acceptable nor sustainable.” – he pointed.
According to the US president, “it is imperative that decisive measures be taken to protect global peace and security so that this potentially dangerous situation ends quickly and without any doubt.”
Donald Trump imposes tariffs. It threatens even higher rates
Donald Trump thus announced that starting February 1, 2026, all of the above-mentioned countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland) will be subject to a 10 percent tariff on all goods shipped to the United States.

Moreover, from June 1, 2026, this duty will be increased to 25%. “This duty will remain due and payable until an agreement is reached for the full and complete purchase of Greenland,” it says.
Donald Trump recalled that the United States has been trying to complete this transaction for over 150 years. “Many presidents have made such attempts – and with good reasons – but Denmark has always refused. Now, because of the Golden Dome and its modern weapons systems, both offensive and defensive, the need to ACQUIRE this territory is especially critical. Hundreds of billions of dollars are currently being spent on Dome-related security programs, including the possible protection of Canada, and this extremely advanced but highly complex system can operate to its maximum potential and efficiency – due to the angles, measurements and boundaries – only when this area is included,” we read.
At the end of his entry, Donald Trump stated that the United States was immediately ready to negotiate with Denmark and/or each of the countries mentioned.
