Theft of jewels in the Louvre. The police found, among others: cutter and gasoline

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez assured that all measures had been implemented to arrest the perpetrators as quickly as possible and that police mobilization would be “total.” “The attack on the Louvre is an attack on our history and heritage,” emphasized the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in a comment on the X platform.

The thieves' action lasted seven minutes

According to “Le Parisien” the thieves' target was a collection consisting of 23 items, including: jewels dating from before the French Revolution of 1789 (including the famous Regent diamond), jewels from the times of the First Empire, i.e. related to Napoleon, the Second Empire (i.e. the rule of Napoleon II, the second half of the 19th century – PAP), as well as from the years between these historical periods.

The Regent Diamond was not stolen – the daily reported, citing a source from the Louvre. Among the gems exhibited here are two other famous diamonds: Sancy and Hortensia.
