Zelensky proposes that the next round of Ukraine-Russia negotiations take place in Azerbaijan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who is visiting Azerbaijan, proposed on Saturday that the next round of negotiations with Russia take place in this country in the Caucasus, informs the EFE agency, quoted by Agerpres.
“We have informed the president of Azerbaijan that we are ready for trilateral negotiations (in his country),” President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said after a meeting with Azeri leader Ilham Aliyev in the city of Gabala.
He added that “previously, such negotiations took place in Turkey,” an ally of Azerbaijan, and “later, with the participation of American partners, negotiations took place in Switzerland.”
“If Russia is open to diplomacy, we are naturally ready to hold such negotiations in Azerbaijan in the near future,” the Ukrainian head of state said.
In this regard, he stated that “it is very important for Ukraine that Russia finds the strength to end this unjust war.”
“We highly appreciate the role of our partners in mediating this process,” concluded Volodymyr Zelensky.
Azerbaijan hosted several meetings between senior NATO military officials and representatives of the Russian military between 2017 and 2020.
