The Unionist Party of the Republic of Moldova risks losing the mandates won in the parliamentary elections. The electoral commission invokes the connection with George Simion / Decision, at the Constitutional Court

The six mandates of the candidates for the position of deputy, won by the Political Party “Home Democracy” (PPDA), led by Vasile Costiuc, risk being canceled. The central electoral commission (CEC) from Chisinau consisted that there are sufficient arguments for the annulment of the votes accumulated by this formation, but the final decision will belong to the Constitutional Court.

The CEC members accuse that the formation led by Vasile Costiuc has made an election campaign on social networks, without declaring expenses for paid advertising, but that they would be used for this purpose. The notifications in this regard were filed by the representatives of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), but also by the National Investigation Inspectorate.

In its finding, the CEC also stated that the repeated violation of the electoral legislation is liable to the hardest sanction, that is, the cancellation of the registration in the race, but, given that the elections have already taken place, it cannot be applied.

The connection with George Simion, an undesirable person in the Republic of Moldova

During the examination of the subject at the meeting of the Central Election Commission, Vasile Costiuc's association with the gold leader in Romania, George Simion, who, according to the findings of the Intelligence and Security Service in Chisinau, present a threat to the national security, in the context in which he was declared undesirable on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, was also discussed.

Vasile Costiuc claims that he has not spent money for promotion on Tiktok, the work is impossible in the Republic of Moldova, as opposed, for example, by Facebook, and the views he had naturally increased. Costiuc also accuses the Government in Chisinau of pressure.

The Constitutional Court will decide

According to the procedure, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova is to examine all the materials presented by the central electoral commission and to decide to validate the results of the poll and, respectively, to the mandates of the deputies.

If the mandates of the six candidates, elected from the “Democracy Home” list will not be validated, six places in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, will be distributed between the parties that have access to the legislative following the Vote of September 28, depending on the number of votes they have accumulated.

According to the preliminary redistribution of mandates, the step is to enter the legislative with 55 deputies, but two elected from the list of this formation have already said that they will remain independent, the patriotic block will have 26 legislators, the “Alternative” block – 8, and “Our Party” and the “Democracy” Party.

George Simion's “ally” from the Republic of Moldova

The journalist and co-founder of the European project Pravda, Sergey Sydorenko, who is an expert in Moldovan and Ukrainian politics, explained, in an opinion text published in contributors on the threshold of Moldova, that Gold has a partner in the “Democracy” Party.

“The main partner of this party (n. Red.: Democracy at home) is the Party of Romanian National Gold and its leader, the most popular politician in Romania, George Simion, who campaign for” Democracy “” on Tiktok and other social networks, “the journalist writes.

The Alliance Party for the Union of Romanians (Aur) participated in the elections in the Republic of Moldova, but obtained a small score of 0.1%. The representatives in Romania announced two days before the poll of being withdrawn from the race, saying that he does not want to fragment “even more vote”, but the president of Gold Moldova, Boris Volosatîi, went public and denied the withdrawal.

The “Democracy Home” party was also noted in June by participating in the Make Europe Again Conference, which took place in Chisinau, involving Gold and especially George Simion representatives, who had an online intervention at the event.

Călin Georgescu also said he had spent nothing in the campaign

Last year the presidential elections in Romania were completely canceled, including the massive promotion of Călin Georgescu, who declared zero expenses in the election campaign. The authorities in Bucharest found that the interference came from the Russian Federation, according to the report presented by Nicușor Dan to the European leaders

“The accounts were created using e-mail addresses with the Rumbler.RU domain, registered in RU. The handling of the algorithm was made mainly by successive use within the video materials of some hashtags affiliated with the independent candidate and mentioning it in the section of comments related to the popular video materials within the platform,” the report on the annulment of the election shows, published on the report in Bucharest.

Calin Georgescu denied each time that his posts were financed and did not declare the expenses for promoting his social networks.
