Putin led the Russian delegation, the American side was represented by US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and the White House head's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
“Yesterday evening, very substantive negotiations took place between our president in the Kremlin and two American representatives, during which, basically – one might say, completely – one problem was discussed – the problem of overcoming the “crisis” in Ukraine,” Ushakov said.
According to him, the parties, among other things, discussed the issue of Ukraine’s membership in NATO (an audio recording of Ushakov’s speech was published by Radio Mayak on Telegram).
“This is one of the key issues,” Ushakov noted. “It was discussed.”
Putin's aide added that the negotiations took place behind closed doors, so he could not provide details.
