Massive smoke releases affect the entire capital, sent on Tuesday evening to the Ministry of Environment, following the powerful fire that included a hall in Sector 2 and that made the air becoming largely in the capital. According to the ministry, the air monitoring stations in the affected area have registered significant exceedances of the concentrations of polluting particles.

For example, at the B16 station, on Basarabia Boulevard, values ​​of up to 350 µg/m³, more than seven times higher than the allowed limit, the Ministry of Environment, in an announcement published on the institution's Facebook page, said.

According to the same source, the most affected areas are: Mega Mall – Fântânica – the Armenian cemetery, where the smoke is dense and toxic.

„Violent fire in sector 2 – impact on air quality in Bucharest:

A strong fire is manifested this evening on the Hobița Aleea in Sector 2, at a refrigeration hall and several annexes. Massive smoke release affects the entire capital.

The air monitoring stations in the affected area have registered significant exceedances of particle concentrations (PM10 and PM2.5).

At the B16 station-Bessarabia Boulevard, values ​​of up to 350 µg/m³, over seven times higher than the allowed limit.

The most affected areas are: Mega Mall – Fântânica – Armenian Cemetery, where the smoke is dense and toxic.

Due to the wind blowing from the northeast sector, the smoke cloud moved to the west, extending beyond sectors 2, 3, 4 and 5 and now affecting sectors 1 and 6.

Recommendations for the population (in coordination with the Ministry of Health and DSU):

  • Avoid outdoor displacement in affected areas;
  • Hold the windows and doors closed, turn off the ventilation and air conditioning systems that can bring smoke inside;
  • If the exit is absolutely necessary, protect the nose and mouth with wet textile materials;
  • vulnerable persons (children, elderly, people with respiratory or heart disease) to strictly avoid exposure;
  • If symptoms of respiratory discomfort appear, call 112 immediately.

The Ministry of the Environment, together with the Bucharest County Directorate and the National Environmental Guard, permanently monitors the quality of the air. The mobile self -cooperator was moved to the Vatra Luminoasa area to capture additional data in real time.

The information is also confirmed by the National Agency for Environment and Protected Areas (ANMAP), in a press release.

According to ANMAP, the concentrations of particles in the atmosphere have reached, at the station in the Trade Register area, a level seven times higher than the maximum allowed level.

“The whole of Bucharest is affected, this evening, by the smoke releases caused by a violent fire broke out on the Hobita alley no.6, in Sector 2, at the Antefrig warehouse, at the refrigeration hall of sandwich panels and at several annexes near it. The effects were first felt in sectors. He beats the northeast sector, moving the smoke cloud to the west. Bessarabia, in the area of ​​the Trade Register, where the values ​​reached 350 micrograms/ cubic meters, a figure seven times higher than the maximum allowed level ”, said the National Agency for Environment and Protected Areas.

ANMAP also mentions that the most affected area is still Mega Mall – Fântânica – the Armenian cemetery, which is covered by a “very dense and very toxic” smoke.

A powerful fire broke out on Tuesday night at a hall in Sector 2 of the Capital – in Șos. Pantelimon, in the area being large smoke releases.

The head of the Emergency Department (DSU), Raed Arafat, later announced that a number of 22 intervention vehicles are in the area.

The authorities issued four RO-Alert messages in which they warn about the smoke released by the fire. The last message was transmitted for sectors 2, 3, 4 and 5, according to ISU Bucharest-Ilfov.
