Article 4. NATO. What support will Poland gain? We translate

In the context of NATO, it is most often talked about article 5., according to which other countries are to defend the attacked NATO state. However, Poland reaches for Article 4.
– The fact that the drones that directly threatened our safety were shot down, is the success of our and NATO military, but this of course also changes the political situation. That is why allied consultations (…) have at the moment adopted the nature of a formal application for the launch of art. 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Prime Minister Tusk pointed out that the decision on the formal application to launch art. 4. NATO She was a “joint recommendation and joint decision” of his and President Nawrocki.

What is Article 4. NATO?
“The parties will consult together, whenever any of them, territorial integrity, political independence or security of either party will be threatened” – The article sounds.
What is behind these words? Well, the launch of the article does not mean the military involvement of other NATO countries. It is rather a signal that the matter is serious – although not very serious yet. For example, when we are dealing with a security crisis, but not with aggression on NATO country. Launching the article is therefore a sign that NATO is starting to react, although not yet military.
“The launch of Article 4 is of great political importance, because it is an official, formal launch of NATO. A political signal that NATO is starting to look closely” – explained on Prawa.pl Dr. Jakub Olchowski from UMCS in Lublin.
Article 4. NATO has already been used
Art. 4 has already been used many times, for example by Turkey during disputes with Syria. The Polish side talked about this movement in turn on February 24, 2022 this year, when Russia began a full -piece attack on Ukraine. Earlier, there was talk of launching an article during the crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. The topic also returned after the rocket, which fell in Więtors. In any of these cases, however, it was not decided.
