Scientists from Krasnoyarsk have developed innovative material for x -rays

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, scientists, together with colleagues from China, developed a new material for X -ray detectors, the regional government said.
Currently, when creating x -rays, harsh and fragile scintillers are used. This is the screen with a substance radiating light in the absorption of ionizing radiation. It is it that allows the apparatus to convert radiation into visible light, and then into a digital image.
The material developed by scientists has much more flexibility. It can be stretched four times, and it will work as before. Such stability will create pictures in various conditions. At the same time, new scintillers convert almost every X -ray quantum to the light signal – this indicates their high efficiency. In addition, the material is more environmentally friendly and safe for the environment – when it is created, heavy metals are not used. Development will reduce the cost of the production of scintillers, since expensive or rare components are not required.
“The developed materials can significantly advance forward technologies of x -ray visualization. Flexible detectors will allow you to create scanners for complex surfaces in industry, compact diagnostic systems in medicine and more convenient devices for inspection at airports, ”said Maxim Molocheev, assistant professor of the base physics and nanotechnology of the Institute of Engineering Physics and Radio Electronic Physics and Radio Electronics.
Scientists plan to further improve their development.
