In the Kansky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, traffic police inspectors prevented the fire from spreading to a residential building and removed a sleeping pensioner from the building, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Krasnoyarsk Territory said.

On December 8, at about 4 a.m., road patrol officers Andrey Shvarts and Roman Miroshnichenko were working near the Rassvet dacha complex near the village of Berezhki. The inspectors heard a loud bang and saw first a bright flash, and then a column of dust. Immediately after this, they rushed to the scene.

An outbuilding was burning in the courtyard of a private house on Novaya Street. The police reported the incident to the Kansky Ministry of Internal Affairs duty station and rushed to wake up the 77-year-old pensioner who was in the house.

“The man, who had not recovered from his sleep, did not understand what was happening,” said the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Traffic police officers took the man out of the house to a safe distance and tried to put out the fire themselves using available means. Thus, they saved a residential building from fire.

Firefighters soon arrived on the scene. They localized the fire and established its cause – an explosion of a gas cylinder, which was stored in the annex along with coal.

The police handed the pensioner over to the ambulance crew and, having made sure that there were no new fires, returned to patrolling.
