The first batch of vaccine against human papillomavirus (HPV) has arrived in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. 1,895 doses of the drug were delivered to the regional warehouse in Krasnoyarsk. In the near future, the vaccine will be distributed to medical organizations in the region.
Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the region Ilya Zaitsev announced the arrival of the vaccine in his Telegram channel. He recalled that a free HPV vaccination program was being launched in the region for the first time. Funds for its implementation were provided in the regional budget by decision of Governor Mikhail Kotyukov.
“Protecting children is not just about safety here and now. This is also the prevention of serious diseases after decades. The human papillomavirus is one of the key factors in the development of cervical cancer, and vaccination of adolescents is recognized throughout the world as one of the most effective measures to prevent this disease,” noted Ilya Zaitsev.
Simultaneously with the supply of the vaccine, medical workers are being trained. Already on June 4–5, at a conference of pediatricians, specialists will receive additional recommendations on organizing vaccination and working with the drug.
After the vaccine is distributed to medical institutions, vaccination of girls included in the pilot program in 2026 will begin. This year, girls 12 years of age from large families, orphans and children without parental care, girls with a hereditary predisposition to cervical cancer for medical reasons, as well as HIV-infected children will be able to get the vaccine free of charge.
According to the deputy, after the distribution of the vaccine is completed, residents of the region will be additionally informed about the procedure for registering for vaccination and organizing the work of clinics.
