French President Emmanuel Macron appointed on Tuesday to the new Prime Minister Sebastien Lecorn, who from 2022 held the office of the Minister of Defense. The Elysee Palace informed about the nomination a few hours after the previous prime minister, Francois Bayrou, made a resignation.

The Elysee Palace stated that Lecorn's task would be to consult “with all political forces represented in parliament” in order to accept the budget and “build agreements necessary for decisions during the coming months.”
After these discussions, the new prime minister will offer the president the composition of the government.
The Elysee Palace expressed the belief that the actions of the new prime minister would be aimed at defending the independence and strength of the country, as well as political and institutional stability. “The president is convinced that on these foundations it is possible to agree between the political forces, when respecting the beliefs” of all of them, “was added in the communiqué.
Lecorn is to take over his duties from the outgoing Prime Minister Bayrou on Wednesday at noon. On the same day in France, protest actions convened by Movement are to block everything, declaring the intention to paralyze the country.
Lecorn 39 is considered a very loyal collaborator of President Macron, who – according to the “Le Figaro” daily – values him as a political competence and sense. From 2017, i.e. from the first term of Macron, Lecornie sat in all governments. He comes from the right (from the Republicans party), but earlier he declared that he was ready to cooperate with all political forces. Lecorn's surname as a potential prime minister had appeared before, but it has never been nominated.
The nomination of the prime minister from the President's political camp was criticized by part of the opposition: the extreme right -wing national union (RN) and the extremely left -wing France, unwashed (LFI). The leader of the extreme right Marine Le Pen announced that the president was reaching for the “last carronism cartridge”. In her opinion, new parliamentary elections are inevitable and that “the prime minister will be called Jordan Bardella” (head of the RN – PAP).
However, Bardella himself wrote on the website X that his party would “judge the new prime minister after deeds” and the shape of the budget taking into account the “red lines” of the extreme right. (https://tinyurl.com/bxxkxytj)
The head of LFI Jean-Luc Melelenchon again assessed that Macron should resign. Marine Tondellier, the head of the Ekolists party, which is part of the LFI block, announced that the nomination for the premiere of another politician from the presidential camp is a “provocation”.
