Israel started the first stage of his planned assault on the city of Gaza and has already taken control over a suburb, the Israeli Military Spokesman Effie Defrin announced on Wednesday night, Reuters, taken over by Agerpres.

The Plan of occupying the city of Gaza by the Israeli army was approved by the Minister of Defense Israel Katz, who also ordered the mobilization of 60,000 reservists to participate in the operation.

The Israeli minister also approved the “humanitarian preparations for the evacuation” of the population in the city of Gaza.

Israel announced in early August that it intends to take control of the city of Gaza and nearby refugee camps, with the stated purpose of liquidating Hamas and freeing the hostages held by the Palestinian movement in the Gaza strip.

The conflict in the Gaza Strip was triggered by the unprecedented terrorist attack committed by commands of the Palestinian Hamas movements and the Islamic jihad in the south of Israel on October 7, 2023. The attack with the death of 1,219 people, mostly civilians.

Another 251 were taken hostage and taken to the Palestinian enclave. Of these, 49 is still in the Gaza Strip, but the Israeli army has information that only 22 of them are still alive.

The Israeli army immediately responded with a hard terrestrial and air offensive on the Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip, an operation until Wednesday, 62,122 people died – of which 58 in the last 24 hours – and another 156,758 were injured, according to the Ministry of Health.
