Szłapka was asked about the relationship between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Karol Nawrocki in the context of recent international conversations. He said “all constitutional and good cooperation rules have been preserved.” He emphasized that last week during a series of meetings was avoided by tensions and that the government informed the President's Chancellery on the course of talks on an ongoing basis. “There was also a meeting of Tusk and Nawrocki,” he added.
Referring to Monday conversations in Washington, Szłapka pointed out that their format was “exactly like the Wednesday joining leaders with Donald Trump in addition to the Polish representative.” President Nawrocki participated in that video conference. “Everyone can draw conclusions for themselves, where there is a source of the problem and how this situation happened. We, as the Polish government, want to behave responsibly in every such situation – because the most important is Poland's interest” – he said.
The government spokesman also emphasized that “the government is obviously ready to cooperate with the KPRP, exactly as the Constitution obliges us.” And he added: “If the KPRP wants to take more responsibility for close relations with the White House, then you need to take this episode with all this consequences.”
The chaf was also asked about Donald Tusk's possible vacation. He replied that “it is very difficult to talk about vacation”, since the prime minister participates in a number of international meetings. “But in fact, from tomorrow the next three days of the prime minister will spend time rather with his family,” he noted.
Last Wednesday, there were three talks on the situation in Ukraine. Prime Minister Tusk took part in the meeting among European leaders with President Volodymyr Zelnski, as well as in the format of “Coalitions of Volunteers”. In turn, in the conversation of European leaders with US President Donald Trump Poland was represented by President Karol Nawrocki.
