According to eyewitnesses, this is the second time that a cargo ship of the Kama Shipping company sinks due to a hull failure. The previous one was the Volgoneft-139 tanker – it sank under water in a few minutes. She was at first an ordinary tanker, and in the 1990s she was shortened to river-sea standards. They did everything in a hurry, something like this: they cut out the center, threw it away, and then welded the stern and bow, forming a huge seam in the middle. Today this seam “broke apart” after a powerful wave hit.
