Bulgarian press: The explosion from the Cugir armament factory, similar to the Bulgaria GRU sabotages

The Bulgarian journalists from Sega suggest that the fire at the Romanian weapons factory could be part of a dangerous pattern, already known in Bulgaria, where several military factories were the target of alleged sabotages of Russian services.

The Bulgarian publication Sega reports that numerous fires produced in recent years in factories and armament warehouses in Bulgaria have been, according to local authorities, sabotage actions put on by agents of the Russian Military Secret Service GRU. The Bulgarian parquet confirmed the involvement of Russian services in these incidents.

The explosion from Cugir, part of a pattern?

According to the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office, in several of these cases it was deliberate acts of sabotage, committed by agents of the Russian secret military services.

In fact, the Bird investigation site documented that, between 2011 and 2023, Russia's intelligence services actively carried out sabotage operations on the territory of Bulgaria, in particular strategic military and logistics.

According to BIRD, in 2014, agents of the 29155 unit of the Russian GRU started to actively use Bulgaria as a basis for operations in the Balkans, including in a supposed case of sabotage at the Sopot Military Factory, an assassination attempt on three Bulgarian citizens using the substance “Novichok” and an explosion on a polygon where they had an American exercise.

Also, Emilian Gebrev, a trader of weapons, who survived two assassination attempts attributed to Russia, warned, including in interviews in the international press, that the Russian Federation conducts a sabotage campaign meant to interrupt the flow of armament delivered to Ukraine, according to Pravda. He claims that Russian saboteurs have attacked several factories and deposits of his company, Emko, which produces most Bulgarian cartridges and Soviet -style tank to Kiev, cites antena3.ro

“There was absolutely no result in any of a dozen cases involving Russian terrorist acts and spy networks in Bulgaria. All the investigations were either stopped or blocked, and none came to court.”he accused.

The Minister of Economy: “I am waiting for answers, the criminal investigation is in progress”

Radu Miruță, said that “all the variants are on the table”

“All variants are taken into account, I am waiting for the results of the forensic laboratory and the result of the investigations of the special structures of the state that are responsible for the security of a factory with such a profile: weapons and ammunition”wrote the Minister of Economy on Facebook.
