The place of Ion Iliescu's burial was changed. The grave of the Ghencea Military Cemetery 3 will be guarded by the soldiers

Former President of Romania, Ion Iliescu, will be buried on Thursday, August 7, at the Ghencea Military Cemetery 3 in the Capital, with military honors. Although initially it had been established that the place of eternity would be in the family, at the Holy Friday cemetery, the decision was changed in the last days. The burial will take place in a private setting, in the presence of the family and the close ones.

According to the Romanian legislation, the state funerals are organized in the case of the death of a president in office or former head of state. In the case of Ion Iliescu, the ceremony will comply with this protocol: the coffin will be transported on a cannon affection, and the funeral cortege will follow an official route through the Capital.
Cortegi's route and access restrictions
The funeral cortege will start from Gheorghe Marinescu Boulevard and will continue on the Boulevard of Heroii Sanitari – Heroor Boulevard – Bagdasar Street – Panduri Road – Geniului Boulevard – Răzoare Street – Sării Road – Ghencea Boulevard – Ghencea Extension – Cooperative Road.
Accompanied by guards of honor, the coffin will reach the Ghencea 3 cemetery, where he will be buried in the presence of the family and the relatives.
Access to the cemetery is currently restricted for the press and public, and the preparations for the Thursday are in full swing. Visitors can no longer enter the cars in the cemetery, having to travel the distances.
The Ghencea 3 Military Cemetery is declared a military objective, and sources from the MApN confirm that Ion Iliescu's tomb will be guarded by the military after the funeral, according to sources from the Ministry of National Defense (MApN), quoted by Bucharest Bulletin.
