“We want players to make a difference, not to add them to the numbers”

Rapid still has 4 matches to play in this calendar year. Victor Angelescu: “I hope we continue to show the way we showed during the championship”

“It feels good to be in first place. More importantly, we managed to have a solid game after the loss at CFR and overcome that unfavorable result. We hope to finish well this year, there are still a few stages, I hope to show how we showed during the championship, to get as many points as possible before Christmas.

From the beginning of the championship we said to focus on every match. At the moment, the important thing is the match in the Cup, where we want to win and take an important step towards qualifying from the group. After that we have an extremely important match, 1st place with 2nd place, with FC Botoșani.

Botoșani plays very well at home, I think they are the best team at home. It is a team that plays very well and has shown this season that it is a team to be feared, we have an extremely important match there. We are now focusing our attention on the Cup match, then on the match with Botoșani. We will see later what will happen in the matches with Oțelul and FCSB.

We treat the Cup as seriously as possible. We said from the beginning that we want to go as far as possible, to win a trophy. The cup is one of the two trophies up for grabs and we treat it as such.

We have players of close values. Naturally, having 3 matches in this period, we cannot play with the same starters every time, but I think, as you saw with Csikszereda when other players also entered, that we have a good enough batch to combine those who played more often with those who got fewer minutes. “We want around two transfers. One for sure will be an attacking midfielder. We have some targets, discussions, we will probably make another transfer and we will also see what will happen in these stages, God forbid we have any injuries or if a certain player leaves from us we will have to replace him.

I think we looked very good in most of these matches and naturally we don't want to lose players, we want to keep the core that has done the heavy lifting in these stages. We will probably make two transfers, but I repeat, it also depends on what will happen in these stages.

Maybe we will make more transfers, but only in certain cases, if players leave or if we have injured for a longer period.

We are not that close with any player, but we have discussions. Until the first part of the championship is over, and not only with us, it is more difficult, but we are in certain discussions with several potential players, we will see what will happen in the winter.

We want to bring in two value players in the front row, who will make a difference, not just take them in numbers. We also look at home and abroad, we have interesting players here in the championship, but also outside“.

The president of Rapid also spoke about possible departures from the team in the winter: “At the moment there are no extensive discussions for any players, but we have had and we know there are many clubs interested in certain players. As I said, it is important for us to keep our best players, so that we can compete for the title and the Cup, we must have the best players.

There is interest in several players from Rapid, we will see what happens in the winter. I want no one to leave. If a really good offer comes along, we probably won't have anything to do, but in that case, we'll find a suitable replacement“.
