The new Hungarian Prime Minister received 140 votes “for” and 54 votes “against”. The first meeting of the new Hungarian parliament was broadcast on several large screens in front of the Hungarian parliament building, where thousands of supporters of the new authorities gathered. The announcement of the voting results was greeted with loud applause both in the parliament itself and in front of the building.
After winning the parliamentary elections on April 12, Magyar announced that his government would consist of 16 ministers. During the campaign, he said that he planned to introduce a two-term limit for the position of head of government.
Earlier, after taking the oath, deputies to the 199-member National Assembly elected the speaker and vice-chairmen of the parliament. TISZA introduced 141 deputies to parliament, gaining a constitutional majority. The Fidesz-KDNP coalition led by outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Orban won 52 seats, and the far-right Mi Hazank won six. Orban himself resigned from his seat as an MP.
