The works on the first express road in the northwest of Romania reached the end, after two years of site. The high-speed road will remove the heavy traffic from the municipality of Turda, facilitating access to Cluj-Napoca and the connection between DN 1 and the Transylvania Highway.

One of the most anticipated road sections in the site in the northwest of Romania is preparing for opening.

In the following days, it is expected to complete the five kilometers from the express road DEX4 Turda -Dej, respectively the road sector that will connect the Transylvania Highway to Cluj Napoca – Turda, in the Tureni Road Node.

“The works are in a very advanced stage, and the builder assured me that by July 6, 2025, the road will be completely completed and prepared for the opening of the traffic. A few works are to be completed-the final asphalt layer, the markings, the protective parapets and the road signs-but all are in the graph”recently, informs from the site, the former Cluj MP, Viorel Băltărețu.

This week, according to him, the builders received the opinion for the installation of portals with indicators on the A3 highway, in the intersection area with the new express road, he added, some of the last formalities necessary to complete the project.

The express dum in the vicinity of Turda municipality is located in the site in the autumn of 2023 and will work as a connection between the Transilvania A3 and DN1 highway, in the area of ​​Tureni. The new route will remove some of the heavy traffic in Turda, respectively the trucks that transit the municipality from Alba and Mureș to the Belt in the Cluj-Napoca airport area. The investment exceeds 562 million lei (excluding VAT), with financing provided by the transport program 2021-2027.

The New Road, made by an association of Romanian and Spanish builders led by Dimex 2000 SRL, will have two lanes per direction (with a width of 3.5 meters each), second -meter inaccuracies and a median space of 3 meters, equipped with meaning separators. At the same time, the project includes a total of seven bridges and viaducts.

The main length of the express road is five kilometers, and the connecting straps with DN1 and A3 will total ten kilometers. On the new road in Cluj county, the maximum traffic speed is 120 km/h.
