“I know it's not a popular issue, but we have to be fair,” said Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, on Wednesday, in a press conference in which, in addition to the tax and tax increases, he also spoke about the changes regarding the school scholarships.
“In recent years, it has been an increase that cannot be supported by the scholarships, especially for the students. Three years ago I had a total amount of 188 million lei and we reached an amount of 4.7 billion. It is an increase of times,” announced Ilie Bolojan.
He then spoke about “a non -conforming application of the scholarships”. “We have whole classes that have merit scholarships, but who take 5 or 7 or worse grades do not take their baccalaureate. We do not know what the merit means,”
The prime minister states that the same is the same in the other scholarships, such as resilience scholarships.
“We will remain with the merit scholarships, but granted on merit, in a limited number. And the social ones will be allocated on criteria regarding the support of children from disadvantaged families,” said the prime minister.
The changes in school scholarships were announced a week ago by the Ministry of Education, Daniel David, who said that only social scholarships and merit scholarships will be kept.
