On Saturday morning Andrzej Duda arrived with an unannounced visit to Kiev. He met with President Volodymyr Zelnski and took part in the celebration of the constitution of Ukraine falling on Saturday. During the visit, he was awarded the Order of Freedom for his merits in strengthening bilateral international cooperation.
– After ten years I will end my presidential term. I will be replaced by the new president of the Republic of Poland and this journey here to Kiev is also a farewell, closing journey for me – said the Polish president at a press conference.
Andrzej Duda talks about “great honor”
Andrzej Duda emphasized that it was extremely important in his presidential service for Poland time when he cooperated with the President of Ukraine and supported him in defense of this country against Russian aggression.
– I did not expect me to meet such a great honor that the president during this ceremony today – next to the wives and mothers of fallen soldiers and next to the front heroes – he will also distinguish me, the president from Poland, the Order of Freedom, the highest decoration that Ukraine gives to representatives of other countries – said Duda.
He noted that he was a great honor for him. – I had never any doubt, as the President of the Republic of Poland, that he would stand at Ukraine represented by the president of Volodymyr Zelnski is very important for Poland's security – the president pointed out.
Duda also thanked for the last decisions made by the Ukrainian authorities regarding exhumation work. “I believe that these actions will contribute to building cordial brotherhood,” he said to Wołodymyr Zelanski.
