According to the local military fire department, at least eight people were killed, 13 survived.
The incident occurred in Playa Grande, located in the extreme south of Santa Katarina. This place is known as the “capital of the canyons”, as well as the “capital of aeronautics.” The crash occurred next to the medical center.
Captain Yang Traska from the Fire Service of Santa Katarina explained that the fire began when the ball took off. 13 people jumped out of the basket and managed to escape, but eight people could not get out, because the ball took off sharply.
