Russian President Vladimit Putin claimed that he does not seek the capitulation of Ukraine, but only the recognition of the new “realities on the ground”, reference to the recognition of Russia's sovereignty over the occupied Ukrainian territories. Putin said that, from the perspective that the Russians and Ukrainians would be the same people, the whole of Ukraine would be Russian, write Reuters and EFE agencies, quoted by Agerpres.
In a discussion at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, Putin claimed that “all Ukraine is ours,” as, in his opinion, the Russians and Ukrainians are the same people. “I have said it many times, I think the Russian and Ukrainian peoples are the same people. In this sense, all Ukraine is ours,” said Russian president. He reminded the moderator of the discussion that, by virtue of an “ancient rule” of Russia, “the place where the boot of a Russian soldier is ours.”
Putin said that if Ukraine used against Russia in this conflict “a dirty bomb”, then Russia's response will probably be a catastrophic for Ukraine's political leadership and for this country as a whole. However, he added that Russia did not notice clues to show that Ukraine intended to resort to an attack with a dirty bomb, that is, a common conventional bomb, but to add radioactive materials. Such a bomb does not have the characteristics of a nuclear weapon, but it can contaminate radioactive.
On the other hand, the Russian president said he did not exclude the occupation of the Sumî region in northern Ukraine, where the Russian army entered to create a border security strip to prevent any new Ukrainian incursion on the Russian territory, as was the one launched in August last year in the Russian province of Kursk, where the Ukrainian army was only Release, with great sacrifices.
Russia and Ukraine have recently resumed peace negotiations, but without result. The two parties only agreed to release all the prisoners of war seriously injured or sick, as well as those under the age of 25, and to exchange corpses of the dead soldiers.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said last Friday that the two parties will establish the following steps after implementing this agreement, and Putin said the next day, in a telephone discussion with US President Donald Trump, that Russia is ready to continue negotiations with Ukraine after June 22.
