Now the beach season for many is in full swing. However, some people are concerned about how safe it is to spend time in the sun and what can be the consequences for the condition of the skin. The EAMEDIA correspondent met with the Head of the Center for Cosmetology with a regional clinical skin and venereological dispensary Yulia Gavrilova and found out whether it is useful to sunbathe as a whole.
According to the expert, tanning is, first of all, skin irradiation. People perceive this as a common darkening, which is formed as a result of a damaging factor. Melanin is a pigment that is responsible for the shade of the skin, eyes and hair of a person.
This substance gives us the opportunity to get a tan that is produced by skin cells in response to ultraviolet irradiation. It protects it from a burn, that is, from damage. Therefore, the tan in large doses, of course, is harmful, in temperate – useful, ”the doctor answered.
At the same time, there are different rays that penetrate deep into the dermis and destroy its cells. They can even lead to cancer. There is a risk of obtaining photodermatosis – this is a skin non -inflammatory process due to increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight.
It is characterized by the presence of itching, bubbles, redness of the skin. After a long stay in the sun, the person’s thermoregulation function is disturbed, temperature rises, nausea and vomiting appear, ”the expert added.
However, solar baths in reasonable doses can be useful. In our way, immunity is increasing, since phosphorus-calcium metabolism is normalized, the production of hormones such as testosterone, estrogen, serotonin and others are increasing. Also, under the influence of sunlight, vitamin D is synthesized. Unlike other regions, we can receive it for almost a whole year, doing nothing for this. The disadvantage of this vitamin leads to brittle bones and sleep impairment.
An important note: before making significant changes to your diet, training program or the process of staying in the sun, it is recommended to consult a doctor or nutrition specialist to ensure the safety and efficiency of the selected method.
