Together with the Australian Sofia Polcanova, Berni had a perfect path to the final women's final, with five convincing victories. In the last act of the competition, the two came across the Chinese pair Wang Manyu/Kuai Man, two practically unbeatable athletes, who did not give up any set during the entire competition.
Bernadette Szocs and Sofia Polcanova were recognized, 0-3 (6-11, 6-11, 5-11), although there were many moments when the two rose to the extraterrestrial level of the opponents. “This silver medal is the first for Bernadette at Seniors and does the first player in Romania who gets a world -duplicate world medal, after a few decades!”wrote the National Sport Agency.
Bernadette Szocs and Sofia Polcanova are the first athletes in Europe to play the World Female final after 1977. The last Romanian medal at the Individual World Championship was Otilia Bădescu, with the 1993 bronze.
