Tusk's government began to fight the Snus. A new president can decide on the prohibition

During the Friday television debate with Rafał Trzaskowski, Karol Nawrocki made an unusual movement. At one point he covered his face with one hand and brought the other to his mouth. Speculation broke out in social media. “I took rubber, rubber,” he told journalists after leaving the studio. Later, it turned out that in fact the PiS candidate took a nicotine sachet.
The topic aroused great interest among the media and commentators of the political scene. On Saturday morning Nawrocki returned to the topic. – I am very happy that it caused public interest. I wanted to invite Rafał Trzaskowski and his closest associates tomorrow to test substances in our bodies. We can examine whether there are drugs in our bodies – said the PiS candidate.
In social media, there were quickly voices that taking a nicotine purse during the debate is the politician “throw” or “setting”, which aims to take control of the message in the last days of the campaign.
Dangerous Snus. The government reacts
Regardless of the reason for the use of Snus during the debate by Nawrocki, the topic is serious. Doctors and experts have been alerting for years that in recent years the popularity of Snus and Nicotine bags has been growing, Especially among young people.
These products, although at first glance seem harmless, carry serious health threats. 1 Snus contains about 50-60 mg of nicotine, while a cigarette contains about 10-20 mg of nicotine. Regular use of these products can lead to the same health problems as traditional smoking, and in some cases – even to faster addiction due to the high dose of nicotine supplied to the body.
At the end of last year, Minister of Health Izabela Leszczyna announced that the pouches with synthetic nicotine would be banned. “We're working on such a solution,” she said in November.
Ultimately, the bill states that the sale of the so -called Snus will be prohibited to people under 18 years of age.
MPs for yes. What will the (new) president do?
Last Wednesday, the Sejm voted a government draft amendment to the so -called tobacco laws (after 417 deputies voted, there was one against and 10 abstained).
The project introduces a ban on the sale of nicotine bags to people under 18, as well as their sale in entities performing medical activities, schools and educational and educational institutions, sports and recreation facilities, in vending machines and in self-service systems. You will also not be able to buy nicotine bags at a distance, including via the Internet. They will also be forbidden to advertise.
Now the Senate will deal with the law. MP Marta Golbik from the PO, who presented the bill, emphasized that the changes are “extremely healthy”. She appealed that the rules would come into force before the holidays.
However, the chances of this are small, because Deputy Minister of Health Wojciech Konieczny announced that This project may require an annual or longer notification in the EC. The notification must take place before the President has signed the Act. This, in turn, means that the Snus will probably be decided by the new president, who will probably be sworn in on August 7.
