The Minister of Defense reacted to the accusations in the public space according to which “old things” are being bought for the Romanian Army, through the SAFE Program, saying that “after years of stagnation, it is for the first time that Romania suddenly has 21 new projects to equip the Army with the latest generation technology.
“This morning, I got to read some comments: that we are the “slaves of France” or of Germany, that we take “antiques” for the army… Good people, the reality – based on data and facts – is completely different. Look at the data, not at the terribly disturbed propaganda that we are moving”, wrote, on Saturday, on Facebook, the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruţă.
“After years of stagnation, it is for the first time that Romania suddenly has 21 new projects, carried out simultaneously, to equip the Romanian Army with the latest technology. Billions of euros for production in Romania”, added the minister.
According to him, the projects are thoroughly thought out, so that an important part of the production will be carried out in Romania, by bringing robots and modern production lines to the national defense industry.
“It's about Romania, it's no longer about politicians' companies learned from combinations. This means jobs, technology brought home and more security for Romania. The world is changing rapidly, and Romania, together with its European partners, must be prepared for this change. More than that, Romania is not a spectator, but an active part of this transformation”, the Minister of Defense said.
He states that “it depends on us how we sit at the decision table and how we defend our interests”.
“It is not about conspiracies, but about seriousness, professionalism and our ability to negotiate and build solid partnerships”, added Miruţă.
On January 26, Radu Miruţă announced that within the SAFE program there are 21 projects related to MApN, with a total value of 9.53 billion euros.
He specified that out of the 21 projects, 10 are joint acquisitions with other states, and 11 are individual acquisitions by the Romanian state. Among the acquisitions are Mistral missiles, H225 helicopters, three air defense systems.
