Revolut has introduced an artificial intelligence-based assistant to its application. The tool called AIR (AI by Revolut) is available to customers in the UK from today. The fintech did not disclose whose AI models the solution is based on.

AIR works as a chatbot built into the application, which allows users, among other things, to: analyze expenses, track investments, manage subscriptions, block a card or plan a travel budget – all in the form of a text conversation. Revolut emphasizes that the assistant only has access to data visible to the user himself, and the company applies a zero data retention policy – personal information is not stored by external AI providers or used to train models.
The vision for an AI assistant in the Revolut app was first presented at the Revolutionaries event in November 2024 by the company's co-founders Nik Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko. As Sifted reminds, Revolut has established a separate unit responsible for the development of AI products, including personal assistants, voice solutions and call center agents.
The premiere of AIR is part of the intensifying technological race in the banking sector. A month earlier, a similar assistant – based on Google Gemini – was launched by the competing British neobank Starling. Traditional players are also not left behind: Barclays has partnered with Microsoft in the field of AI, NatWest with OpenAI, and HSBC with the French Mistral. Lloyds, in turn, sent management staff to a six-month course on artificial intelligence.
Revolut is valued at $75 billion. and has a banking license in the UK. On the Polish market, it operates on the basis of Lithuanian license passporting. For now, it is not known when and whether AIR will be made available to customers in Poland and other European countries.
