The French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau won the race for the position of the leader of the Main Conservative Party in the country, Les Républicains (Polish Republicans), increasing the chances of his start in the presidential election in two years.
Retailleau, an ardent conservative who will probably push the party even more to the right, recorded a sharp increase in popularity since joining the government in September. Experts expected to dethronize the current Republican leader Laurenta Wauquiezawho applied for re -election.

Republicans under previous names dominated in French politics for decades, with former presidents such as Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy in their ranks.
