The list of one hundred of the most talented Polish scientists before thirty was announced on Monday by the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP). Winners and winners of the competition in the START 2025 program will receive scholarships with a total value of over PLN 3 million.

FNP awarded scholarships for young Polish scientists for the 33rd time. Winners and winners were selected through a multi -stage competition, in which the quality of their scientific achievements was assessed. Each of the researchers appreciated by FNP will receive an annual scholarship of 30,000. PLN, and the total amount for it is over PLN 3 million – the foundation said on Monday.

In this year's edition of the FNP competition, 725 applications arrived. Of the 100 winners (67 men and 33 women), 32 people had a doctoral degree at the time of submitting the application. The winners most often represent biological, medical and earth sciences (30 scholarships); chemical sciences and material science (23 scholarships); Humanities and social sciences (18 scholarships); Technical sciences (17 scholarships) and physical and mathematical sciences (12 scholarships). The most awarded young scientists are represented by the University of Warsaw (15), the Jagiellonian University (14), the Polish Academy of Sciences (13).

Since 2009, FNP has also been awarding the program participants, whose research achievements have been assessed by the reviewers of the competition as outstanding. The scholarships of these people will be increased to PLN 38 thousand. zloty. This year, awards were awarded to: Jędrzej Chrzanowski (Medical University of Łódź, Faculty of Medicine) – natural and medical sciences, Jakub Zakrzewski (Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Faculty of Chemistry) – chemical sciences and materials, Sebastian Borówka (University of Warsaw, Center for New Technologies) – technical and strict sciences and Michalina Kowala (University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, Department of Law and Administration) Humanities and social sciences.

In turn, Stanisław Kurwalka from the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw received a distinction. prof. Adam Sobiczewski, awarded by FNP since 2015, is an expression of appreciation for a scientist conducting research in mathematics, theoretical physics or astronomy, which has “extremely high quality” scientific achievements.

In this year's competition, a scholarship with distinction was awarded for the fourth time. prof. Wacław Szybalski for an outstanding young scientist conducting research in fields cultivated by the founder – i.e. biotechnology, genetics or molecular biology. Paulina Kamińska (Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw) became the winner of the award.

Scholarships in the 2025 competition will be financed from the FNP budget, by private and institutional donors (TVN Foundation and PKO Bank Polski Foundation) and from payments 1.5 percent. income tax.
