Hotel Gołębiewski Opens in Pobierowo with $250 Million Investment

The Hotel Gołębiewski has officially opened its doors in Pobierowo, marking the largest hotel of its kind in Poland and one of the largest in Europe. The construction of the hotel spanned approximately eight years and cost around 1 billion zł, with about 70% of the funding sourced from the private funds of Tadeusz Gołębiewski’s company, while the remainder came from external financing.

The opening comes after a challenging period for the company, particularly following Tadeusz Gołębiewski’s sudden death in 2022. His passing left the company unprepared for succession, as he had managed it as a sole proprietorship. Representatives from the company noted the transition was particularly difficult, but ultimately successful, culminating in the hotel’s opening.

Currently, the hotel offers around 530 rooms to guests, with plans to expand that number to approximately 770. Complete operations are expected to be in place within two years. Guests can already enjoy various amenities including multiple swimming pools, an aquapark, children’s entertainment areas, restaurants, cafes, and the largest conference rooms in the region. There have been some controversies surrounding the hotel, including those highlighted by YouTuber Książula, but the hotel management assures that “every justified complaint is addressed.”

Other points of contention included the size of the hotel and its location, which is adjacent to the sea and nestled within a forest. The company acknowledged that about 1,700 trees were removed for the construction; however, approximately 3,900 new trees have been planted in their place. They also clarified that the hotel was built on a former military site, which meant that extensive forest land did not have to be repurposed for the project’s needs.

The hotel is designed to meet five-star standards, although the official rating process is still ongoing.

Future Plans for Gołębiewski Holding

Agnieszka Gawińska-Rucińska from Gołębiewski Holding referred to the hotel as “our crown jewel,” emphasizing that it is the culmination of Tadeusz Gołębiewski’s lifelong dedication to developing innovative hospitality solutions. Interestingly, there was no general contractor for the project; Tadeusz Gołębiewski himself oversaw the construction and made most of the key decisions.

Looking ahead, the holding company plans to focus on modernizing its remaining four properties in Poland. Recently, they completed upgrades to the conference rooms in Mikołajki. However, they also do not rule out future developments outside of Poland, particularly in regions where the tourism season extends longer than in their home country.
