The USA will start talks with partners on the reduction of the American contingent in Europe, and this will happen “after the summit (NATO in the Hague)” – announced on Friday Matthew Whitaker, the new US ambassador to NATO, during the session of the Ministerial Council of the Baltic Sea countries in Estonia.


“Nothing has been decided yet, but as soon as we do it, we will conduct these conversations within NATO structures,” said Whitaker.
The NATO summit, which is to gather representatives of 32 Member States of the Alliance and key partners, is to take place in The Hague on June 24-25.
The Council of the Baltic Sea, established in 1992, is a political forum of regional intergovernmental cooperation with the secretariat in Stockholm. The members of the organization are countries centered around the Baltic Sea, including Scandinavian countries (and Iceland), the Baltic States, as well as Poland, Germany and the European Commission.
Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski took part in the Friday session; At the beginning of June, Poland will take over the annual chairmanship in the Council from Estonia.
The Friday RPMB meeting took place in the Vilhula manor, 90 km east of Tallinn. (PAP)
