We read about the Zondacrypto exchange case in a text published on Monday on money.pl. “The largest Polish cryptocurrency exchange may have serious liquidity problems. An analysis obtained by money.pl and Wirtualna Polska reveals a decline in bitcoin reserves of the Zondacrypto exchange by 99 percent. Users report problems with withdrawing funds, and at least some clubs sponsored by the exchange have not received due payments for months. At the same time, over PLN 76 million was paid from Zonda to another exchange,” the portal informs.

Shocking data about the finances of the largest Polish crypto exchange

The portal refers to an analysis dealing with, among others, recovery of stolen cryptocurrencies from Recoveris.

The results of the analysis are surprising and disturbing. (…) Withdrawals of cryptocurrencies from Zonda, such as XRP or Ethereum, were made on an ongoing basis. The problems concerned withdrawals of bitcoin (BTC) – the most liquid and highest-valued cryptocurrency. But on Sunday, April 6, it was no longer possible to withdraw money also in Ethereum – we read.

As mpney.pl points out, “one of the possible reasons is the fact that Zonda's bitcoin hot wallet, i.e. the wallet constantly connected to the Internet, is almost empty.” “The average monthly balance of BTC on Zondacrypto wallets dropped from approximately 55.7 BTC in August 2024 to 0.18 BTC in March 2026, which is a decrease of 99.7 percent,” says analyst Marcin Zarakowski from Recoveris, quoted by money.pl.

The stock exchange with one million customers has in reserve… PLN 21,000

“Throughout March 2026, the balance of the wallet never exceeded one bitcoin. And on April 1, 2026, it amounted to 0.086 BTC. (…) Meanwhile, Zonda's stock decreased in less than 2 years from 56 bitcoins to 0.086 BTC, i.e. to the equivalent of approximately PLN 21,000.” – indicates the portal. According to money.pl, Zondacrypto “declares to serve over a million customers (approx. 75% are Poles), of which 500,000 are active users.”

If even a small part of them decided to withdraw their funds at the same time, the exchange – with reserves of less than one bitcoin – would not be able to make these withdrawals – we read.

The portal also presents the position of the head of Zondacrypto, Przemysław Kral: “When asked by us how much the balance of Zonda's bitcoin wallet was on April 1, 2026, Kral replied that it was over 4.5 thousand BTC. However, he did not provide any evidence confirming this information. He added that the exchange has over 3.2 million addresses, including cold wallets – wallets cut off from the Internet and to which analytical companies do not have access,” we read. (PAP)
