People who evaluate their financial situation well, live in a relationship – especially marital, participate in religious practices at least once a month and rarely use social media – according to the CBOS survey,

The results of the CBOS study of attitudes of representatives of the youngest generations of adult Poles: Zetek and Millenials also called Igrek, were presented on June 3 in Warsaw at the scientific conference “Young Poles about themselves”.
In his paper on the mental condition of young Poles, Michał Feliksiak from CBOS pointed out that one of the key issues that affects the well -being of the respondents is their material.
“Regardless of which generation the subjects belong to, their well -being, if they have a bad financial situation, is on average much worse than the well -being of those who describe their situation as average or as good,” he said.
Another factor strongly affecting mental welfare is Personal situation of respondents. According to CBOS, people who remain in a relationship, especially in a marriageand the worst – singles. People in an informal relationship are characterized by relative mental well -being.
CBOS also examined what impact on well -being in religious life, expressed in the study of religious practices. “It turns out that those who have declared not participating in religious practices are characterized by a slightly worse mood than the other respondents. In turn, those respondents who participate in religious practices at least once a month, “said Feliksiak.
The authors of the survey also examined the use of social media on the well -being. The study shows that people who spend three hours in social media have an average lower value of mental well -being than other respondents. The best mental well -being is characterized by respondents who declared that they use social media less than an hour a day.
In the paper “Parents' attitudes” Małgorzata Omyła-Rudzka pointed out that the vast majority of young people think that raising a child is a big challenge, and having children is associated with many sacrifices, and that you can have a fulfilled life without children.
“At the same time, the vast majority believe that it is difficult to reconcile professional work with childcare. Nearly half is of the opinion that professionally working women are more respected than those only dealing with home and children, “the researcher added.
At the same time, she reserved that the image of parenthood among zteks and millennials is not clearly negative. “Young people see many positive aspects of having children. They believe that thanks to parenthood you can learn a lot that having children makes a lot of joy and that parenting is a natural stage in human life,” she said.
According to Omoga-Ruda, women clearly more often than men believe that nowadays raising a child is a big challenge and more often attribute to greater importance of professional work. They believe that work is a source of greater prestige than to deal with children. According to the researcher, men more often treat having a child in terms of duty to society.
“It can be said that young people want to have children, but for some reason they do not have them, or do not have as much as they would like to have,” she said.
As she explained, in the case of the first child, the reluctance to have children or a partner or a partner comes to the fore, the need for independence, and only then the material situation. However, when it comes to another child, it is this material situation that plays an important role in the first place, and then the professional situation.
The study was carried out in the autumn of 2024 on a representative sample of 1.5 thousand. people. The study covered two generations: generation Y, i.e. people who at the time of the study were from 30 to 44 years old and a generation Z, i.e. adults from 18 to 29 years old. (PAP)
