Special operation carried out by Mossad “in the heart of Syria”, for the recovery of the body of an Israeli soldier killed in Leban in 1982

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that a “special operation” allowed the repatriation of the corpse of an Israeli soldier killed in Lebanon in 1982, the army specifying that his earthly remains were recovered “in the heart of Syria”, reports France Presse and Agerpres.
“Within a special operation carried out by Mossad (external intelligence services) and army, I repatriated the body of Sergeant Zvi Feldman, fallen in the battle of Sultan Yacoub in June 1982, during the first Lebanon war,” Netanyahu said in a statement broadcast by his services.
In the battle of Sultan Yacoub, the Israeli and Syrian armies in the Bekaa region, located in the east of the Lebanon, along the border with Syria.
In a distinct joint statement, the Israeli army and Mossad announced that the body of a soldier was “located in the heart of Syria and repatriated in Israel.”
“The restoration of the remains of Sergeant Feldman has produced due to a complex and clandestine operation, made possible by precise information and the use of operational capacities that have shown ingenuity and courage,” added the army and Mossad in the statement.
No information was provided regarding the date of this operation.
The identity of Zvi Feldman's body was officially established due to the genetic tests and his family was informed, the army said.
