Scandal at the appointments for the Romanian Cultural Institute: “You are not isolated by going to the AUR's trailer. Congratulations PSD!”

Corina Æcrosnatu was appointed by the Senate, on PSD's proposal, as the new president of the Romanian Cultural Institute, the positions of vice president going to Adriana Gae, proposed by AUR, and Attila Weinberger, supported by UDMR. PNL and USR accuse PSD and AUR of having negotiated the mutual support of the proposed candidates, criticism rejected by the two formations.

Corina Incroșnatu was validated by the Senate for the position of president with a majority of 81 votes. According to HotNews sources, the votes belong to PSD, AUR, UDMR and PACE senators. USR voted for its own candidate, Roxana Dumitrache, and PNL for Adrian Dupu.

A triplet at the head of ICR appointed by PSD, AUR and UDMR

AUR and UDMR gave the two vice-presidents, with the support of PSD. Both formations deny the existence of an agreement, even informal, PSD-AUR-UDMR, for mutual support.

“The colleagues from the Senate voted for our vice-president and that was a discussion with the PNL to support the PNL and the USR. But there was no discussion with the AUR, in any case, God forbid! Unfortunately, in the coalition, we did not have any discussion about the situation of the ICR, about how it should work, where it should work,” said UDMR president Kelemen Hunor on Monday in Parliament.

After Tuesday's plenum vote, PNL and USR accused PSD of trying, once again, the alliance formed with AUR. “I want to congratulate the PSD-AUR-PACE coalition for the fantastic result from the ICR. I propose, according to these principles assumed today, for this collaboration that they have, that the next hearings for the Romanian Cultural Institute take place at the stadium”, said Simona Spataru (USR)

“Your candidacy was not even supported by your new partners from the PNL. You are completely isolated. I wish you long life,” replied Daniel Zamfir, the leader of the PSD senators

“Thank you for remembering that you are not isolated by going to the AUR trailer. Congratulations PSD!”, Spataru retorted.

“New majority to end this madness”

For his part, the leader of the AUR senators, Petrișor Peiu, denied the existence of an alliance of his party with the social democrats.

“As a tractor driver, who also has a trailer, I remind you that I voted for 12 draft laws proposed by the USR. Does that mean we were in an alliance? I think you need to use the word more carefully”, addressed Peiu Simona Spătaru.

But PNL group leader Daniel Fenechiu made similar accusations: “The censure motion validated a coalition, a majority at the Parliament level. Today's vote showed that this majority also exists at the Senate level. I congratulate her and ask her to go with a proposal to Cotroceni, to end this madness.”

Instead, Ninel Peiu, from PACE, admitted that his group had negotiations with other parties regarding the support of candidates. “We can negotiate politically whenever you want. PEACE is in everything. You just have to have negotiators. You should have come to discuss. The others came and discussed,” said Peia to Simona Spătaru.

The new head of ICR: The Institute is apolitical

Asked by HotNews if she had received the information that the PSD had negotiated with AUR its support at the Romanian Cultural Institute, Corina Incrosnatu claims that “ICR is apolitical. I will not enter into political discussions, nor do I know them otherwise. It is a proposal of the Social Democratic Party and I think it was based on my CV and my time in the Romanian Cultural Institute.”
