The first smoke signal of the conclave organized for the choice of a new pope will leave a basket of the Sixtine chapel on Wednesday at the earliest at 19:00 (20:00 Romanian time), Matteo Bruni announced on Tuesday, the director of the Vatican Press Office.

According to his statement, quoted by the ANSA and taken over by Agerpres, the cardinals will enter the chapel around 4:30 pm (5:30 pm in Romania), then a Cardinal Cantalamesa Cardinal and the oath, followed by the first vote on the designation of Pope Francis, will take place.

Then there will be four polling sessions and two smoke signals every day until a new pope is chosen.

Therefore, for Thursday, the first smoke signal could be given around noon, unless the new pope will be chosen from the first polling session that day, in which case the white smoke will leave the Sixtine chapel around 10:30 (11:30 Romanian time).

If the smoke at that time will be black, then, similarly, the next smoke signal could only be given around 7:00 pm (20:00 time), if not the first vote during the afternoon will prove decisive, and in this case the white smoke will be seen leaving the basket around 5:30 pm).
