Extensive search on the Danube after the disappearance of a sailor. Crews from Bulgaria, sent to support, but the intervention is hampered by fog and frost

A sailor disappeared on Wednesday morning from a barge on the Danube, in the area of the town of Islaz, at river kilometer 606. The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Teleorman announced the addition of forces involved in the search. Specialized crews from Bulgaria are also participating in the operations, the mission being hampered by dense fog and low temperatures. A sailor aged about 36 is nowhere to be found.

According to ISU Teleorman, additional forces were mobilized in the field to check both the Romanian and the Bulgarian shores. The Turnu Măgurele Naval Transport Police intervenes with two policemen and a car for land searches, as well as with a frame on the Border Police vessel. The Teleorman Border Police also sent a crew with an all-terrain vehicle to check the area on the Romanian shore, according to Agerpres.
In order to monitor the sector on the territory of Bulgaria, the Romanian authorities got in touch with their Bulgarian counterparts, who sent specialized crews for support.
At the same time, the mayor of Islaz is on the scene and supports the action with personnel and an all-terrain vehicle.
The disappearance was reported by the crew members of a barge, located at km 606, in the area of Islaz. A sailor aged about 36 is nowhere to be found. Initially, a rescue boat of the Turnu Măgurele Detachment, a Border Police boat, an ambulance, as well as the diving teams of ISU Teleorman and ISU Giurgiu were sent to the scene.
Search operations continue, but the fog and severe frost make the intervention extremely difficult.
