“The new K9 howitzers are already reporting in the gates of military units in the east of the country,” informs the Armaments Agency in the published entry.
“18 vehicles are accepted for the equipment of the armed forces. They will be the artillery core” of the 16th Mechanized Division and the Iron Division (18 Mechanized Division) – we read in the published entry.
K9 Thunder is a South Korean self -propelled howitzer on a caterpillar chassis. Its main armament is a 155 mm armata with a length of 52 calibers, which, depending on the type of ammunition, ensures precise fire at distances of over 40 km. Auxiliary armament is 12.7 mm a large -caliber machine gun.

The K9 armor provides protection against small -caliber weapons and artillery shards. The drive is a 1000 HP diesel engine with an automatic transmission, which ensure high speed and mobility in any terrain. The howitzer mass is 47 tons.
