A memorial sign in honor of the Krasnoyarsk residents-the defenders of the besieged Leningrad appeared under the St. Petersburg.

On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the victory at the Sinyavinsky heights near St. Petersburg, a memorial sign in honor of the Krasnoyarsk residents who defended Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War was opened.
“From 1941 to 1943, fierce battles were fought in this territory, which became decisive to remove the enemy blockade. Among the defenders of the city were military units formed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In honor of the feat of the Krasnoyarsk residents as part of the military memorial “Sinyavinsky Heights” there is now a memorable sign, ”the government said.
Recall that in 2023, the leaders of the veteran and patriotic organizations of the region turned to the governor to perpeturate the memory of the Krasnoyarsk residents. Mikhail Kotyukov supported the initiative and instructed to hold a competition for the best sketch. The jury was chosen by the project of the Krasnoyarsk architect Andrei Kasatkin, an assistant professor of the Department of Sculpture of the Siberian State Institute of Arts.
The opening ceremony of the memorial sign was attended by the leaders of the Leningrad Region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory, as well as the guys from the Youth Club of the Territory in St. Petersburg and members of the Krasnoyarsk search detachments. Those present honored with a minute of silence of the fallen heroes, laid flowers to the main stele of the military memorial “Sinyavinsky Heights” and to the new memorable sign of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
“The heroic Leningrad was defended by people of different nationalities, residents of different cities, villages and regions. From the very first days there were Krasnoyarsk residents. Rifle divisions kept the defense of Leningrad, motor transport regiments ensured the work of the road of life. In addition, Krasnoyarsk became the second home for many Leningraders – plants were evacuated, entire workers' teams left with them. Opening our memorable sign today, we pay tribute to our grandfathers and great -grandfathers. And at the same time, we create another place of power here. I have no doubt that for the Krasnoyarsk residents who study, work, live in St. Petersburg, in the Leningrad Region, it will become a place of memory of the heroic exploits of our fellow countrymen. It doesn’t matter how many days have passed since those events – while we remember this, while we are together, it is impossible to break us, it is impossible to defeat us! ”, The governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Mikhail Kotyukov said.
According to official figures, five Krasnoyarsk military units made a contribution to the liberation of the Leningrad and the Leningrad Region: 374th, 378th, 382nd Infantry Divisions, the 140th Rifle Brigade and the 799th Auto Transport Battalion, transporting goods along the road of life. The 140th Infantry Brigade and the 374th Infantry Division took a direct part in the battles near Sinyavino. In total, more than 16 thousand inhabitants of the Krasnoyarsk Territory defended Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War.
Currently, about 8 thousand Krasnoyarsk residents of the city are buried in the Leningrad Region, of which more than 400 people are in the area of the village of Sinyavino.
